I know, I know. We were just there been sicknesses, you know, just like everyone, everyone deals with the flu season and all that. Good, Beautiful stuff. Unfortunately, you have. I'm sorry about. That I know, yeah, I'm getting, I'm on the on the tail end of all of that mess. But but beyond that, you know, I we could we it has been, like I said, a hot mess since we've been together. But I've been doing some interesting things. And we're going to talk about one of the things that I've been been doing. And specifically it's actually around a game show. And that is what brings us to our topic today. And so I'm going to tell you a little bizarre AF. Well, more like a lucky AF story than anything. But about 12 years ago, my husband Roy drove to California and he, he actually went down there to help some friends with this bedroom remodel.

2:08 And then while he was down there, he also had the ashes of his parents. And he thought, well, I'm going to drive down Hwy. 1, find a really beautiful spot. I'm going to spread my parents ashes. And oh, by the way, while I'm down there, I'm going to go to a taping up The Price is Right. So he does all of that. Very Long story short, he gets on the price is right, he wins the price is right. He gets all the way to the end. When is the very end of The Price is right? Like he cleaned house, boy cleaned house. And what's interesting about this story is he didn't even you're supposed to get tickets. He didn't get tickets, but he happened to be behind somebody who had an extra ticket unbeknownst to him when they were asking for tickets. I mean, it was this whole event that like things just had to align up perfectly in order for it to to work.

2:53 It was crazy. So today, so Roy, obviously Roy's been a huge fan and and and such I've watched it because he watches it and I've, you know, kind of gotten into the show. I mean, of course I've watched as a child. I mean, you watched how you watched this show as Price is Right as a kid, didn't you ever? My God, yeah. I loved prices, right with Bob Barker, Right. Right. He was like he was the OG host. Yeah, I loved prices, right. And the I loved the wheel that you would spin and Plinko, Yeah. Plinko, yeah. Everyone seems to love Plinko. I actually have some interesting stories about Plinko too that we're going to talk about today. But what I did want to talk about is, you know, today we're not going to have to put on our tinfoil hat. We're not going to have to keep a skeptical ear. We're not going to have to keep an open mind like today is about just fun, interesting facts around the game that's been around forever, so.

3:57 Well, good. We need a little bit of a break, yeah. Give us a light little topic, right? Just to have some fun. Totaling. So we're going to talk about, like I said in the title, we're going to talk about some cheating. We're going to talk about racism, sex scandals, game scandals, game secrets, like all kinds of tidbits of stuff that that seems to be kind of fascinating. So we'll, we'll start off, you know, like as you said, Bob Barker, he was the originator of this game. It was on it for decades and kind of near the beginning, he he made a really rookie mistake during this. It was a 1984 episode.

4:37 He was with a contestant named Albert and they were playing a game called pick a pear. And I don't know if you know what pick a pear. It's it's 6, but they're in a row and you have to pick the two that are same, the same price. OK, so you should say pick a product and you go, I don't know, instant mashed potatoes. And then that comes up and they go, it's 5:59. And then you have to find the other one that has the 559. Well, in this particular I think when they did it originally it was kind of a care sell thing. So Albert you know he says which you have to figure out which one like I said cost the same price. He picks a can of chili and the chili was at the time was $1.59. And so what's supposed to happen is he's then supposed to pick a second product that he thinks is $1.59. But instead Barb Barker goes so soon as he says chili and chili and Bob says it's $1.59.

5:23 Do you know what else is $1.59? The raisins and and then he. Robbed. No. Right. And then Bob realizes, my God, I just gave away this prize. And so of course they gave him the prize. And because he goes, OK, so which, which one do you want? And he goes, oh, I'll pick the raisins. Another something similar to that happened recently where one of the models that it was a it was you had to pick the price of the OR so you had to pick all the prizes except the price of the car. And so the contestants starting to do it and she picks one. It's not the price of the car. Well, Consuela, she isn't the thinking. And so she pulled away the one that was the price of the car. And you should see the look on her face. She was legitimately scared.

6:08 Like, I mean, I just got fired. Like I just fired, got myself fired. She hides behind the podium. My gosh, she was so scared. But everyone just laughed it off. And of course, they had to give the contestant the prize. But you know, those kinds of things happen, and it's not like it happens every day. Yeah. You know, one thing that I keep on thinking about is I'm surprised it does not happen every day. I would think that this would be something that would be consistent. I would be messing it up all the time. Even when I'm playing games with friends, I'll accidentally tell them the the answer, you know, so you can tell they're all real professionals, right? They. Are they are They are. Yep, Yep. So there's also been cheating that has happened in Price is Right and intentional contestant cheating.

6:54 There's a guy by the name of Ted Slauson and he spent his early life, a lot of the years documenting and memorizing prices that were on the Price Is Right. Now, Unfortunately, in the beginning, at The Price is Right, they would repeat prizes. And so once you knew the price of something, it was always the price of something. And so if you could memorize the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of prizes that they had, then if you got up there, chances are you could win. So when he turned 18, he started traveling to the show to become a contestant. And even when he wasn't picked from the audience to be a contestant, he was always like, yelling out prizes, you know, because they encourage the audience to be really engaging, you know, and yelling out the prizes he was on. He went to 37 tapings.

7:54 I mean this guy was going all the time and over the years he was yelling out the prizes and most of the time he was yelling out like the exact prize because remember he has memorized these. So he has like a special superpower, just only related to the prices, right? It's like, it's like people with AI don't know a telegraphic or what is it photographic memory? This is that guy. Yep, Yep, exactly. He helped contestants place a perfect bid on the final showcase, helping them win both showcases tilling, you know, 10s of thousands of dollars. Prior to that, he had helped two other contestants bid within a very small margin of error on the final showcase, which also allowed them to win a double showcases. And then after helping 1/3 contestant, his name was Terry Nice with the perfect bid to win the double showcase surprises, the show's producers finally started changing the diversity of the items.

8:57 So like when you would order like a car, they would go, oh, well, this one's going to have air conditioning and a special paint and this one's going to have hub cups and a ram. This right to start changing up the prices because they found out what was happening right that he was memorizing. The races, I mean, I'm surprised this didn't happen before. I'm I would think that people would memorize prices because these are huge, massive things that they could win. They could win like a trip to Hawaii or, you know, a trip like you could win like, you know, a brand new cars. That's pretty expensive. The fact that it took this guy, what's his name again? Yeah, it was a Ted Sloss on Ted. Yeah, Ted. Good old Ted. Ted's actually making them do their jobs instead of just like copying and pasting for the to the next episode.

9:43 So again, he had the perfect bid on the I mean, that's impossible, but that's like impossible. Like please. So, you know, as you know, something's up and you know, this Terry guy, he always maintained that he had come up with this perfect bit on his own. But this Ted guy, he reveals this later. You know, of course, I think he wants fame and stuff so that he actually, I don't know if he wrote a book or something, but I think there I think there's actually a documentary or something about this. There is, I've seen it there. It is. Have you seen it? Yeah. Oh my. God, yeah, of course I have, because I'm a I'm a fucking weirdo. Yeah, yes, actually. Well, you can in the in the documentary, they talk about this exact thing, You know the exact where the guy was like, oh, no, it was me.

10:29 I came up with a perfect bid. Terry. Terry's the one who has the OK. So then so Terry was like, Yep, no, I came up with a perfect bid. I I did it and, and the guy's like, no, you didn't, Ted. Ted's like, yeah, I did that. I came up with it. And they show footage of it in the documentary. Of him like in the audience or something? Yeah. Well, so I know I've seen clips where Bob actually recognize. Well, he's been there so many times that Bob starts re recognizing this guy and he's like, Oh yeah, listen to him. He knows. That's why Bob's no longer the host, because he's like, no, no, yeah, yeah, this guy knows what he's talking about.

11:12 Everyone's winning. Too much shit on The Price Is Right. That's hilarious. So I digress for a second. Have you? Speaking of cheating, have you ever watched the show Pressure? Look no. No, I've never watched him. Never seen it with the whammy. So it's got this board goes and then they go stop and then it stops and then whatever it lands on, they get the prize and they get so much they answered trivia to get spends and then you don't want to land on the whammy and then the whammy takes all your money. You've not seen this? Yeah, like bankruptcy. I have not seen it, but it sounds like it's kind of like the wheels of Fortune, right? Yeah, Yeah, yeah. OK, yeah, yeah. So, so in this, so when they first built this game that that the little light pattern was a pattern, a big pattern, but it was a pattern and a guy memorized the pattern. He memorized the pattern, got on the game show and was like racking up the money because he knew the pattern and when it would stop on the big money, the big they call it the big bucks. And so ever since that scandal, they changed the the pattern to be random.

12:23 But it's that kind of stuff. People are so like, focused, like, you know, they have nothing better to do except cheat the world and they'll figure out a way to do it. OK, but here's another question. Is it really cheating or, or is it pattern recognition like we talked about folks who are autistic, right? Like who have like some form of autism and, and having some form of autism, you automatically recognize patterns. And so come on, if this is my superpower, I'm able to do this. Of course I'm going to. I want to win a car, a brand new sports car. That's completely valid. I mean, you built the game. It's your problem if I've figured out how to play your game. I mean, at the bottom of the line, right? And so, yeah, if you don't want me to beat your game, then either make this shit random, come up with different prices, or, you know, do something.

13:15 Yeah. Yeah, yeah, don't make it easy for me to it's, is it cheating or is it just, is it just taking advantage? Of the game, that's all. Yeah, you're right. Exactly. You're right. So there have unfortunately also been sex scandals, man, I don't I think Bob was, bless his heart. I think, I think he was just one of those, you know, person kind of cigarette smoke in one of the boys kind of guys. He is like a Playboy. Was he ever married? I think he was, honestly. I do. And that's a good question. I don't know for sure, but I I feel like he was, yeah. I would think he would be. So Diana Parkinson and Holly Holstrom, they were very famous models on that show.

14:01 They were, I mean, I can picture their faces in my mind, clear as day. And the longtime model Diana Parkinson. She quit the show in 93. She sued him for $8 million, alleging sexual assault and harassment. She claimed that Bob used various forms of coercion, including force, to make her perform oral acts on him every week for 3 1/2 years. Shut up. Yeah. And she won the case, right? Like he. Well, so let's keep going, so she further alleged. Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. No, that's OK that she's. She further alleged that she slept with him for fear of losing her job and that he paid her $1000 a month to keep her quiet so she felt like.

14:51 My God. Prostate, I mean, she felt, Can you imagine like I can't? And then you, you're like, I'm going to get fired if I don't sleep with this guy. Exactly. You're going to get fired. And then on top of that, you're, you're going like this guy is the host, he's the big cheese. Like you're not going to upset him if he's getting like one. These are beautiful women, right? So of course people are going to be attracted to them, But is it really their fault? Of course it's not their fault is what I'm trying to say is like, but this guy is in a position of power and he is taking advantage of that power and coercing people like that. Is that not a tale as old as time? Old as time. Terrible.

15:34 So wrong, so wrong. It's terrible. And then and then what a fucking idiot. He's then paying them. She's paying her monthly or weekly like $1000 to keep her yap shut like so it's like he knows he's doing something wrong right? And but then he claims they had a consensual a consensual. You're paying her bro like what the fuck? But she she needed the money and I thought, oh, this is the best way. And we agreed that that was probably best that out. Of the kindness of your fucking shriveled up old heart, you bitch. Yeah, it's like I said, it's really sad. Well then her fellow, the fellow prices right model Holly that I was talking about. She later claimed that Barker urged her to go on record saying that Parkinson was a liar and Holly refuses and said that Barker consequently fired her and in the end, Parkinson had to drop her lawsuit citing health problems. And if that were the end of the story, we might be left, you know who was telling the truth but Holly? The Who?

16:44 I was just talking who he tried to get her to lie. She then sued. She was also suing him for age and gender discrimination. And she claimed that when Barker no longer considered her pretty, he one that he let her go, which that's the whole nother topic. And so her life got so bad she was out. She was living in her car and bankrupt. It was awful. By the end, the court finally agreed with her claims and she got millions of dollars, although they never cited, you know, the amount, but you know, she ended. She at least ended up getting some money. So it feels like these poor women, poor women. My God. OK, so when did like, when was it that she like went OK, one she was living in her fucking car. She was living in her car was fired because she was too old or aged or whatever the fuck.

17:36 Like OK, models like that happens all the time. Is it right? No, it's not right, but it's it's it's reality. It sucks, but then she's living in her car after having been on television. It's like, that's one, not a safe situation for her to be in. And then two, how many people are recognizing her? And she's like, yeah, I'm just going to go into my car at the Von Safe or Safeway freaking, you know, parking lot and sleep there tonight because I became too ugly. Oh, and by the way, I did not lie. I did the right thing and did not lie for this creeper of a fucking man Bob Barker. Like which I Oh my God.

18:19 I used to like him and now I think he's such a piece of fucking shit. Holy fuck. Awful. And because if you had any sense of morals, those women were part of your show. How could you let her live in her car? If the if, if everything was ugly up and up and everything was you, would you? How could you morally do that? You couldn't. I couldn't. No, no, of course you couldn't, because you're a fucking good person. But guess what? Like these people are slimy motherfuckers. They're awful. They're horrendous. And these, these poor women probably go to Hollywood. We hear the story. We've talked about it so many times. It's like these women go and like, I want to be an actress. I want to have my name in lights or whatever. I want to work in showbiz. And these women are working in showbiz, finally doing what they wanted to do. They're on television and they have this creeper that they're dealing with.

19:05 They have to constantly like push aside but still make him feel OK or give him, you know, oral sex because he's unwilling to, you know, take no for an answer or take I'm uninterested for an answer because he's given everything he fucking wants because he's and so then he's. It's rich and in power. I mean, how long was that story? Happened, yes. I mean, you know what? Time's Up was a movement for a reason, right? Because that is what was happening. But these women are going through all of this and and you know, he's still host. He's still host of this fucking television show. He doesn't lose his job because he was a creeper for years. The money, that's right, he's lining other people's pockets because of him, so they're not going to fire him.

19:51 It's tear. It's ridiculous. It's awful. Johnny Carson, you've heard, I'm sure you've heard all of the pig stories around him. And he was as much of a player as BA, probably worse. Good God I have not. Fuck, I've not heard any of these stories. Oh, yeah, yeah, it's, it's awful. It's just, it's terrible. Again, it's this rich white man who is in power. And so he can't lose. It's his way or the highway. And he'll treat people however he wants to treat him. It is, it's very, it's very disappointing. And you know, like I said, bless his heart, he's, he's gone. But you know, fuck him for treating people like that. Sorry. I love that, I love that that bless his heart because he's dead or whatever, but fuck.

20:32 It and you know, again, this this is probably isn't shocking, but it wasn't until 44 years into the show that Bob Barker finally hired a permanent black model. Just if you kind of understand Bob and who he is and what he represented in his life. I mean, it makes sense. So Kathleen Bradley, she was one of known. She was also known of one of, of Barker's beauties is what they called them. She was featured in the show from 1990 to the year 2000. So she was on for 10 years and then she was abruptly fired when she truthfully answered questions about Barker's conduct. Someone was questioning her about his conduct and she answered truthfully and she got fired.

21:14 A few years later, another black model on the show, Deborah Curling. She filed a lawsuit claiming Barker subjected her to hostile working condition and levelled racial slurs at her. She also described an atmosphere in which black contestants were treated poorly. But of course, all of this is his word against hers. She, he's the one bringing in the money. She's not. He's the rich, white, powerful guy. She's not. So you can't do a he said she said thing and expect her to win. It's just not the way it works. No. And also like who? Like one. This is something we're finding out a lot more today because, you know, these people are becoming like, for instance, Bob Barker. It's like he's becoming less and less relevant as he gets older because they're going to have to find a new host, right?

21:55 They're going to have to find someone else. Bob can't do this any like much longer, but these stories start coming out and they stop suppressing them. Like, OK, conspiracy theory. I know we weren't going to talk about fucking we're going to be all light in this episode, but conspiracy theory here it is. That's actually true. You know, you have these people who are hiding stories that are coming out about these hosts, about the like there are television hosts today, late night television hosts that I've heard a multitude of horrendous things they do to their employees, to women, to to anyone. They're they're pieces of shit. And yet it's all covered up by the network because they're on a successful show. They're making money and they're making these producers and networks money. So we're going to hush these people with money and say, OK, bye.

22:42 Don't say anything and or try to delegitimize them like make them sound like they're just disgruntled employees, right, like we're going to cover up for for Bob. Well, and that's the. Key to everything and even any of our episodes. You know how if they like when we're talking about UFOs that the Air Force makes everyone think you're crazy, then that helps. Same with this. If Maple people think you're disgruntled or you're just making stuff up to get money or whatever, then. That's it, right? It's you don't want to have that stigma attached to you. And you know, these poor women have this stigma attached to them. How are they going to get another modeling job filled? With creeps.

23:25 So the show's kind of air of white superiority actually wasn't limited to the model department 1 reporter had written. And this is a quote the operation under Barker exemplified America's pervasive conscious and unconscious effort to reinforce racial imagery that showcased whites as our heroes, people to envy and admire, and almost always omitted black people from those same roles. So you. They're right. About it, when you're watching, especially I would assume as a white person, but then going back and looking at it, it's like we had blinders on like that.

24:11 You can see it. It's clear as mud, clear as crystal. It's so clear. So I recall watching a show, like I said, in when I was growing up in the 80s, I watched it all the time. So it's when you're sick and you're home and you're like, I love the show, of course. And like I said, you could see that the, the contestants were not representative of America. You can now you watch the show now it is, it is night and day. You see the people in the audience, the people that get called up. It's, it's very diverse. It's, it's as America is represented, It's, it's so much better now with Drew Carey, so much better. God bless Drew Carey. OK fortunately for us post Barker, the show is doing a really great job contestants we see you see black, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, you see a lot of gay couples and you you name it, right that's across the board. The show accommodates hearing impaired, visually impaired, little people, people in wheelchair. I don't know if you've seen it now, but there are no stairs, right?

25:13 It is. You come on down and the stage is level, so you don't have to worry about stairs anymore. And so they're, you know, trying to accommodate again, the representation of America. So nobody is excluded, which is pretty cool. OK, so I have a question about this. Is it because Drew Carey's now the host and their end Price is Right is trying to remove themselves from all of these like Bob Barker like allegations, claims and sexual like. If I had, if I had to guess, I would say yes. And I think Drew probably brought that culture with him, right? The none of that is who he is or was. And so he certainly doesn't want any association to something he's not right. So I I would imagine that's exactly the turning point.

25:57 Please tell me that Drew Carey's not going to be another Johnny Carson or, you know, Bob Barker in 20 years. But yeah, who knows? I hope not either. So Drew's first day of work after taking over for Bob Barker in 2007, he cuts his hand after getting his arm stuck in this rotating apparatus of a, of a set for the grocery game, which occurred even before the first episode aired. So I know he was probably going, oh, oh, what's going to happen here? But but it, it's obviously been a great run for him. So you talked about Plinko before. Everybody loves Plinko. You see people wearing the Plinko shirts all the time and want to play Plinko. So fairly recently, social media trolls dragged Carrie after what they say was him providing his unsolicited advice, costing a contestant a substantial cash prize. Now this is people just being trolling and just, you know, being Dicks because they can be hide behind their keyboards. But so the all this drama unfolds when the CBS's official Instagram account, they share this clip from an episode featuring a contestant, her name was Lauren, who had a chance of winning $500,000 on Plinko.

27:15 Now what happens is typically the middle of Plinko is 10,000. But when they do the night time or things like that, they'll increase that center price to 100,000. And so if you get all five of your Plinko chips and of course you can win half 1,000,000 bucks. So in this game, the player, as I said, if you've never seen it before, they get these pucks and they will hold them flat. They climb up these stairs up to this flat sloped board. They will hold the slat, the, excuse me, the chip against the board and then they will drop it. And then it will bounce through these pens as it slides down the board and land in one of the slots at the bottom. Normally the highest amount in the middle is 10,000, but in Lauren's cases it was 100,000. Now, before Lauren drops her first chip, Drew offers some guidance, and he says one at a time. Put them against the wall, drop at $100,000, right in the middle.

28:05 It quickly became clear that Lauren's strategy of dropping the chip down the center of the board wasn't effective because her chips kept ending up kind of the side in the $500 slot and the $3000 slots. And Drew's like, what's going on? He says, as Lauren's chip lands in the $500 slot. And she looked thrilled because I mean she ends up getting like 4 grand which is way more than you would on the normal plinko cuz you know the the prices are kind of high. But people start saying that it was his fault and he interfered with her winning and Drew Carey needs to stop saying right in the middle when Pinko is playing because he's annoying. AF11 fan says on the Instagram account. Another post say Drew you don't have to tell contestants that the big money is right down the middle every single F in time. Another one says Carrie needs to keep his mouth shut when they're laying the games and spinning the wheel. Like, Oh my God, people, he's trying to encourage what? You know, what can I, can I just talk about this? I was, there's a bunch of podcasters in Colorado and we were having a conversation about these trolls. We'll just like comment the meanest shit on social media, like on people who are just posting something. You know, you might be posting like, hey, this is, you know, what I like or how to or whatever. And you have someone who's just trying to teach people how to like, I don't know, iron a shirt properly. And you have some fucking

29:36 asshole who like goes in there and it's like, that's not how you actually iron a shirt. Haven't you heard of starch or something, something different? Like, where did your mom? Yeah, where did your mom come from? Like, you know, Timbuktu and like, are the are you, you guys are just like dirty, disgusting human beings. Like, why are you going to such an extreme length to just harass someone? You know These people are unhinged mentally. They are. They are unhinged. Well, and in this particular case, someone finally comes to his rescue and he's saying that $100,000 is in the middle, not to necessarily drop the chips in the middle. And by the way, if you're annoyed by him, use your effing brain and change the channel, you dumb twat. That was the quote.

OK, you are sitting on your fucking couch eating chips, which don't get me wrong, love doing that. But you're sitting on your couch doing fucking nothing. You're not playing Plinko. You are not actually hosting a television show. You're sitting there criticizing Drew Carey, who's like, he seems, please God, let him be a decent person, but he seems like a decent fucking human being who's just trying to help people. Like, how dare you? You got, you could give him a break. I mean, shut up. Just shut up. God, it's so irritating where it comes after. Drew was on this interview with TV and TV Insider and he revealed that many times contestants come high and drunk. OK, so I can kind of see it because what would a Stoner be doing at like 9:00?

31:20 Waking and baking, getting a little stoned, watching the game show because you know you have your day off during the week? I could see it. So of course he would need to help that and then like marijuana has become legal in a lot of states, California to be included right. So it would make sense people like I'm going to visit California and like be a contestant and the price is right. Poor, poor Drew's like these people are fucked up. I have to explain to them this is how you want to play the game because you're a little all fucked up. We're going to. I know, I know, Roy and then. Let everybody eat 1. Yeah, here you go. You want one? It'll make it way more interesting. I know Roy didn't do that. Roy took his game show winning or game show life very seriously.

32:03 Yes, exactly. Very seriously. Which, Yeah, so I have something to say about that. So don't let me forget by the end. OK? So then Plinko, there's another little scandal. This one was very interesting. So there was this young college girl that got to play Plinko, and she dropped her first three chips and all three landed in the $10,000 slot. All three. She dropped it. Was it accidentally or did she, was she like intentional about it? She was like she was holding in. She looks got it in the middle. She let go 10,000 to the next 110 thousand 10,000 people were freaking out. They were screaming and I mean the audience was going absolutely crazy.

32:58 Drew couldn't believe it. He was like Oh my God. She drops the 4th chip and as the 4th chip is going down and landing in the $10,000 slot again, the producer floor director comes over, stops the chip just before it's getting ready to go into the slot, leans and stops the chip and he leans into Drew Carey and he says this game is fixed. And Drew and Drew thought to himself, I just lost my job. He's like, Oh my God, I just there's this, this is fixed.

33:41 I've just lost my job. You thought for sure he's getting fired. Well, here, here's what it happened right before the season had begun filming. They use this game to film a commercial for an up and coming price is right video themed video game. And they rigged the machine with fishing lines so that it always went into the $10,000 slot because they thus they had to film this for the, for the game. They forgot to take the fishing line out. And so when they brought the game out to play, everything was going into the $10,000 slot. So the producers take the fishing line out, gave her five new chips and had her play. And that, that's actually what we saw on television was the, the, those five chips.

34:29 But guess what? Behind the scenes, the Price is Right gave her that $30,000. OK, you know what? They're really redeeming themselves after this Bob Barker bullshit. That is so nice. They didn't even have to do that. They didn't even like mention it but. Of course, they didn't have to do that because it wasn't real. But could you imagine being that contestant? You're like, holy shit, this is my lucky day. And then actually playing and womp, womp. You get like, you know, not 30. Yeah. Yeah, I was so impressed by that. I thought, you know what that. Was so cool. Morals it is. That was really the right thing to do. She was so excited, she thought she won. It was no fault of her own.

35:10 So good for them, good for them. Totally. Yeah. Who knew fishing? Like, my mind would be blown. That's so funny. Yeah, so I told you about the Manuela incident giving away a car when she wasn't supposed to do that. So it was a revealing and answer early issue we had in 23 contestant by the name of Henry after winning one of the it's called bonkers is the name of the game. He jumped up and down so hard he dislocated his shoulder. He broke his body because he was so excited. How do you like dislocate your shoulder from jumping? I want to do that. I'll have to see that his. Wife had to come up and spin the wheel for him because he couldn't, but it did earn him high enough score to advance to the Showcase Showdown where he ended up winning a trip to Hawaii. So it kind of all worked out for Henry. So in this interview, Juice talks about how there are two games that are notoriously difficult and that he does not like them and he doesn't like them because they are so hard. And when the games come up, he's always saying, God, they're going to they're never going to win this game. And he just he doesn't he does not like them. One of them is called that's too much. And with that's too much is they have, there's about 10 prizes or sorry, there's ten boxes.

36:25 And the idea is that they show you a car and Drew will turn over the first card and it will have a price, we'll say 21,543. And if you think that price is more than the price of the car, you have to say that's too much. If you think it's less, you say, OK, let's do another one. And so then he'll flip over the next one. And then that might be 21,952. You go, Nope, next one, next one would be 22 three O 5. And so you have to keep going until you get the one that's just that's too much where it's just over the price. People rarely, rarely win that game, so he doesn't like that one of. Course, it would be a lot more difficult if you're just trying to see out of all the pride or all the numbers, see all the way which one's the high.

37:14 Yeah, and you can't tell. What? Yeah, it's when I tell. So you just and they're in the increment pretty small. So that's what makes it, you know, even more difficult. The other game that he doesn't like that he says is always just too hard is called stack the deck and otherwise stack the deck works is they should give you a car. They show you a car and there are, they show you the five, There's 5 slots for the price of the car, right? So 15 right? So there's 55 slots. And then underneath it they have big playing cards and you know, so it's like a 2A3A4A5A6A7 and 8. And So what you have to do is you have 3 pricing games and they'll show you the price, they'll show you a a prize, they'll show you 2 prices and you have to pick which one is the price of that item.

37:57 And if you get it right, you can say, show me, I don't know, like slot 3 of the price. And so then they'll take the card, whatever the correct card is, and they'll put that in slot 3. So you have up to three chances to fill in three of the blanks, and then you have to fill in the other two by yourself just by guessing. So first of all, getting all three is typically hard. The prizes are difficult for some weird reason, because I think the prices are so close that it's really kind of difficult. And then even if you get all three, you need to play it right so that the last two numbers that you have to guess are relatively easy. So in your mind, that would be the first two, right?

38:39 You're going to know that it's a 20 something. So you know that's a 2. And then just generally what it is, right? You can fill this, the second one. So the 3rd, 4th and the 5th, those are the ones you really want to get filled in. So Roy took me to the prices right in October. We were first and second in line. We had made a suit for him to wear because we thought for sure he was going to get picked on because you have to be at least 10 years before you can go on again. It had been almost 12 and we had a material printed with all these pictures of him from his previous episode. We had that material made and then we made a suit out of it, Pants, a tie, a jacket, a base. Cap, can we, can we talk about the suit just for just a little bit longer because, because I have to impress upon this that you guys were working on this suit for months like. Yes.

39:31 I don't know, something like that. You guys were decided this was going to be our first sewing project. Which is if, you know, people will pay thousands of dollars for a well made suit because it is so difficult to get a good fit. Remember going over when we would record and I would see how much of the suit was done. And I honestly thought that you had done this before. You're like, yeah, we're going to make a suit. I'm like, Oh my God, But another thing about Kevin that I'm like so impressed about, but you guys have never done it. I like, I want this amazing confidence in the ability to learn. I need that because it is so impressive. And although you said I fucking hate these pants, the zip I remember talking to you about, like, where are you at?

40:14 In the process, seeing it like near the studio. It was it was impressive and the pictures. Were all of the Price is right everything lining the arms were pictures of Roy with Drew Carey, Yes. And like the Price is right and the way you guys cut the material to have specific pictures showing in different areas, yes, so impressive. I'll make sure and put a link so pick people can see pictures if they want to see it on our episode. So Roy takes me and I won't go into the details of it. Suffice it to say, I actually ended up getting called. I was a contestant, I ended up winning my bid and got called up and the game that I played stack the deck. The hardest one?

And I'll tell you when I, when I saw the game come up, they hide it behind this big board and they lift the board up and I saw it and I, I tilted my head back and I went God like that. And Drew laughed. And he goes, oh, you've watched the show, huh? Because I hate this game. I said I hate this game. Of course they air that. They cut that out. They don't obviously air that part. But. Hey, Price is right. Can we get the unedited version? We want to see Kevin's reaction. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Anyway, so I ended up winning that game and Drew Carey said finally we have somebody defeating this game.

I mean, the fact that someone won it and it's the person who is at all that, yeah, you know, the price is right. How cool is that? Like, so are you going to talk a little bit more about your experience with the game? Yeah, I can. When we're done, I can. OK, Summation, summation of it. It's divided into 25 steps and there's this climber figure at the base of the Cliff and he climbs up to the top of the mountain and one at a time a contestant has to guess the retail price of of three prizes and for every dollar the contestant is off the climber moves a step up the 25 step slope. And so the correct price is revealed and once that the climbers if the climber makes doesn't fall off the Cliff before all three prizes then the contestant wins the the main prize.

43:15 So basically they get to be $25 off worth of prize of three prizes. The thing is, is if you ever watch this game, this game is 100% guaranteed win because there is a trick to it and if you know the trick, you can win it every single time. The thing is, not everybody knows this game, watches it enough to know the trick of the game. And that's why Drew. Loves it God. If you watched it, he knows you're going to win it you There's a guaranteed win if you watch the game. Question. OK. Can you please tell us if we just in case we end up going on to the price is right?

43:59 And happened to play Cliffhanger. Yes, yes, I will. Tell you, what is the secret? If you bid, if you guessed 25 dollars, $35 and $45.00 in that order for the the prices, you will always be under 25 steps always. Hey, did you hear that, folks? Always. Yep, 25. I love that. 45 You will always win, always win some of the games that they play. They have so many games if you go online and search prices right games, it is crazy how many games they've come up and some of them are nearly as old as the program with original parts by the way.

44:47 Yeah, they treat they treat these games with a lot of love and care and they're built so, so well by their art department. But by nature of these games, that also means that the hosts are Privy kind of to the secrets behind winning the games. Now, here is something that I wish I could tell you, and I'm going to try to figure it out. I don't know the answer to it, but there's a game called Ten Chances. And in this interview with Drew Carey with TV Insider, he says that is the easiest game. Now, if you're not familiar, what happens is they're, they give you 3 prizes increasing in value. Like we'll, let's just say a robot vacuum cleaner, we'll say a mountain bike and a car.

45:29 And so you have three blocks. And so what'll happen is that they, they put the first first prize underneath a card and they show you like 3 numbers and you have to guess the price of the vacuum using those 3 numbers. So like maybe there's a 7A5 and A0 and you go, oh, it's 75, right? And if you don't get it right, then all three of them slide and you have to your second chance to get that first prize. OK, maybe it was 70. Yes, that's it. OK, now we're on our third chance. Now we're going to do the motorcycle and it's 4 numbers. And so you have to write down guess the price of the motorcycle. And if you get that right, then you start doing the car that has, I don't know, like 6 numbers. No, I think it's all 5 because you have to use all five, I think.

46:13 So you get 10 chances to guess all three prizes. Now for me that seems very difficult because when you like the motorcycle and it might be a 3A7A4 and A0, well that could be anything, maybe 4370, maybe 7340, maybe, you know what I mean? So personally, I think that seems very difficult and I don't feel like I see many people win this game. Drew Carey says it's actually the easiest game that they have. And I find that impossible to believe, especially since I know how to play Cliffhanger. But he says not everybody knows that there is an Easter, that there is an Easter egg trick to it.

46:53 And he says not allowed to say anything, but every number ends in zero. So the first two should be gimmies. There's only so many combinations for the car that makes sense. That's where he left it. Now he when he says there's an Easter egg, that means to me that there's also something in the prices or the way that they the display or something tells you the answer. Yeah. So when I have no time in my life, which is never, I'm gonna go try to watch these games of ten chances and see if I can figure out what this Easter egg is. I think that's it's fascinating. OK so I think that we should try to see if we can post on the Price is right subreddit and see if they know like the. Trick of the Easter egg.

47:38 That would be uh huh. Yeah, the Easter, the Easter egg one. Because, you know, I don't know, anytime I have a question for life, it always I gotta read it. Reddit. Yeah, like I need someone to give me like a real opinion or, you know, their opinion on some kind of software or whatever. Always read it. But I wonder if the Price is Right subreddit knows the cheat code or the Easter egg. Like, I don't know, I'll have to check it out. Yeah, go check it out. Yeah, check it out. I bet you someone's definitely knows about the cliffhanger tell you that. For sure. So unfortunately, Drew did have some real tragedy in his life during the price is right. It still effects him to this day. But he did open in his interview opened up about his love life and how he doesn't date anymore and really tried to learn to move on is following a tragic death of his former fiance, Amy Harwick. He was he was to be married.

48:31 She was murdered by an ex-boyfriend in 2020. And this just really, really impacted Drew and it's why he'd only talks about his mental health at the end of every show today. It's why he talks about that and how important that is. He says quote her death still affects me and my ideas about relationships and intimacy. That was all damaged by our first breakup. And then the day before she died, she texted me. He explained how he and her way had really gone through a really bad but necessary breakup because I couldn't think about her or see a picture of her so I couldn't be reminded of her. It just, it really, it was bad. And then he got a text from her right out of the blue and she said, hey, it's Amy.

49:15 I've been thinking a lot about forgiveness. I would love to get together with you and talk about some things. And Carrie texted her back and says that he loved her and agreed to meet up with her that following week. And he heard from one of her friends that she had tears in her eyes when he told her that he loved her still, which he says he very much did. And he said he loved her madly even though when they had broken up. But unfortunately, that never happened because the very next day she was murdered by her ex-boyfriend. He says he still doesn't date. He has women to go out with and spend time. But it's it's very platonic. He doesn't really care about anything else. And he said just just to tore him up. It just has wrecked him.

49:56 So again, why he says it's very important for mental health to take care of it. Reach out, get help. That's so great. I mean, one horrible. I actually I've heard of this case. It's an awful, awful story. And it just shows you that, like, grief really, you know, does a number on people and that mental health and taking care of of your own mental health and is so important. And it's unfortunate that he had to learn from such a tragedy or he had to be a part of such a tragedy and then have that as like a sign off on the Price is Right. But what a wonderful gift he was given from her to have said. I'd really like to talk things out. And him being able to tell her that he loved her again, like, that's something a lot of people. Yeah, they don't get the opportunity to do so. It's really, really cool that he was able to do that. But I'm, yeah, so fucking sad.

50:51 And she was a makeup artist, wasn't she? Like she worked in Hollywood. Yeah, Yeah, I think that's right. Yeah. Awful. Just awful. So the last little tidbit I'll leave you with is, you know, a lot of celebrities, really, when, you know, when you're getting started out in Hollywood, you got to find ways to make money and do things. So a lot of them actually competed in game shows. And I was watching a game show randomly one time and it was an old taping, an old, old taping of $10,000 Pyramid. One of the contestants was Kirstie Alley. I'm like, Oh my God, that is Kirstie Alley. And when he introduced her, sure enough, that was her name, Kirstie Alley. But she was nobody then she was just getting started. And so she went on a game show to to play, but she was also on the match game. She went on the match game.

Lady Gaga was on Boiling Points on MTV. Cynthia Nixon To Tell the Truth, Steve Martin, The Gong Show, Joy Fantone. Nick Arcade of Chrissy Teigen, dealer, No deal. Meghan Markle, dealer, No deal. Although they were. Working. Contestants Tom Selleck the dating game Arnold Schwarzenegger was on the dating game as a contestant. So, you know, it made does make sense that you know that they would be on these shows trying to get screen time, trying to get money, all of that well. Yeah, it kind of goes into what we were talking about. It's the synchronicities.

52:17 That's really funny. But the last show that we had done was on, you know, the Truman Show reality show. So we were talking about how comics would often do that or people who are trying to become actors. It's like, it's like that's that is this is a way game shows and reality shows, a way that these people can easily, I would say do a game show, don't do a reality show, but it's a way to easily make, make some money and to get some screen time. Maybe, maybe it'd be discovered. It's so funny how many people have been on game shows. Yeah. Well, that that's really it. So again, we when I Roy took me, we did the filming, which is really crazy. We did the filming of my episode in October. It didn't air until February 5th, but I will tell you that, you know, they they want you to play to the camera and I will tell you a lot of of of my reactions is me trying to be as energetic as I possibly can because I am an actor.

53:15 So I, I, you know, I want to play for the television, but I was. Legitimately. Excited, I mean, it was inside my heart was just pounding. I was, I mean the the chances and the odds of getting called up A but B, even winning the bid and then see, even winning your game. I mean, it's just it's really astronomical. And when you think about it, Roy won a car and his I won a car when I went, it was both our first time ever going to prices, right, both getting called up, both winning cars. I mean, it's crazy. OK. Can I just say you guys are so lucky you guys have luck on your side.

54:00 I I mean the fact they both won a car, like I don't know if I saw the car, I'd be like it went your carries and there's a brand new car. It's like it's just crazy. You know, I'd be super stoked, but both of you guys have won it like that's insane and you both have won. You've both been called up and you've both been you both have won multiple prizes, right. It's not just like, it's not just, oh, I fucked up this one game and so I didn't win anything. I didn't get to spin the wheel. You guys both got to spin the wheel. Got to spin the wheel now. The difference is Roy got to go to the showcase. Showdam I did not. But here is the shitty part. I want to tell you all I am bitter because Mama rolled a dollar.

54:46 Mama rolled a dollar and I still didn't get to go to the showcase showdown because some other guy rolled the dollar. God. Damn it tell us 1. So if you don't know with the wheel like what is the wheel called? I think you just call it the wheel with the big wheel. Yeah, yeah. And so the. 1st so you. Contestants that get called up, they all have to spend the wheel and then whoever gets the highest on the wheel goes to the showcase showdown. The person that wins the highest amount of money spends last. So in my particular group, I spend last because I had won that car. And so the first I think, can't remember the order, was a guy and a girl. The guy ends up spending twice and he gets a doll or he gets a dollar and I'm like, oh damn it, I'm done.

55:35 I'm done. I'm done. Done. This is I'm done, damn it. Did you think that you thought I'm not going to be able to win? Yeah, I'm like, there's just no of getting a dollar like, please. And so I spun. I don't know, I got a number. I can't remember. I'm like, so I spun again and I got a amount that gave me exactly a dollar. I was jumping up to the ceiling. I was so excited because I was, I was convinced I was done right. And then when you're not like that's a complete shock. And so I'm like, Oh my God, I'm mirroring my husband. I'm going to be going to the showcase showdown. This whole process is going to be just a mirror of my husband. And yeah, so then you have to do a spin off and you each get to spend once and whoever gets the highest amount goes to the showcase showdown.

56:24 I did not get the highest amount sadly. So then. It what did you get? Over for me. See, now I can't even remember the number. I can't even remember. But it was, it was, I was close. Like if it had gone just a little bit more, I like, I would have, you know, beat him. But it was just wasn't my day. It was his day. And that's fine. Yeah. Yeah. You know what I think? I think that that's the the the way to think about it when you're playing games. And I don't think that I'm like, fuck, this is fucking shitty. Like I can't win. But that's why you guys win things is you guys, rather than saying, man, that that sucks, you say that, but you also say it was also this person's day. Like, I didn't need to win it. It was that it belonged to this person. That energy was out there. And that's yeah.

57:04 What a what a refreshing way to think, Kevin. I love that. Also, are you allowed to like OK one about the wheel? I've always wondered, and I'm sure that other people are wondering, how heavy was it when you had to like pull it down? Was it really heavy like? It is very heavy. What? Would you say like I? Do know that they changed the tension on it every episode. There's a way for them to tighten or loosen it. And so sometimes it will spin more freely and have less resistance and then sometimes it is more resistance and spins. You know, it stops much more quickly. I think it was, it didn't wasn't very loose. It wasn't that loose when I spun it. And it yes, it is very, it's a very, very heavy wheel. So you have to give it a good, good tug to get it around. I gave it everything I had.

57:52 Of course. Yeah. And you got a freaking dollar. It's awesome. And then as far as being on the show, like, what did you What? What? Yeah, so I when I got called up, I was the first of the four. So they call 4 contestants up to start the show. I was the 4th of the four to get called up at the beginning of the show. I didn't win the first bid, which looking back at it, I got the best game. Like the of the three games, I was the only one that played for a car. So winning the bid that I won was I couldn't have done it any better. But the one that I ended up winning to get up, there was 2 robot vacuums, 1 was a regular robot vacuum and then the other one was a hard surface like a mop vacuum robot. And I looked over at Roy when when they showed up that prize and I was like, and he went 700.

58:45 And then I, and I look back to he because he couldn't see. He was kind of over on the sub. We were sat over on the side of the studio, so he couldn't see the prize. And so then I said, oh, but there's two. I held up my finger. I go, there's two. And he goes with the and he goes then 1400 and I go, oh, OK. And so that's what I ended up bidding and then I won. That's what I want. And so I also tell you that they you don't go in there and just sit wherever. When you're when you stand in line for the price is right, they give you numbers. And Roy and I were the very first in line. We got there very early in the morning because he wanted to be first. And so he was number one, I was number 2. And what they do is as you're coming into the studio, they have pages that are at the bottom of each of the aisles and one at the top. And then she'll say, OK, go down this aisle and then you go down this aisle.

59:32 When you get down the aisle, then they're looking at this tablet. And so they saw our numbers and they go, oh, OK, you to write in those two seats. And so they strategically place people where they want them. Now, keep in mind, every single 300 of us had gone through an interview with the producer. It's a short interview, but it's an interview. And so that's how they're interviewing and picking their people. And so I think they strategically placed those that they pick, you know, kind of where they want them, probably spreading them out, I'm guessing. I don't know why else they would do this, but Roy and I were way. For the cameras, right? Underneath George Gray's booth, we were right, right there, and so it was really hard for Roy to see anything. So I had to basically communicate with my hands. I mean, that's it's wild.

Yeah, so for those of you that are watching, I'm, I'm wearing it. It's a big sparkly jacket. And then I rhinestoned this shirt and it says I bid $1.00, sorry, not sorry. And I actually got to bid a dollar on one of my prizes because I thought everybody was bidding over. So I, I got to, you know, bid my, my $1.00 and I screamed it and I said I, I got to do it. Drew $1.00 and I held over my jacket and drew goes, sorry, I couldn't hear you.

Stack the deck and win the car? Yep. Or what kind of car was it? It was a Toyota Corolla. And what's fascinating is that Roy says or the a couple weeks before I said Roy, isn't it interesting that all of the car prices are somewhere between 23 and 25,000? Like I was noting the noticing this pattern. And so then when stacked, the deck came up and I had them place position number 3-4 and five.

And I just got done telling Roy everything seems to be between 23 and 25, so that's why I picked the forks. I'm like, what falls right in in lines with what I had said. And sure enough, that was the prize. It was so insane. Crazy.
