They receive hundreds of USFO reports. I mean like they are the place. That's where you're gonna go. That's where you need. To go if you see. Something yeah, like legit go Yeah, exactly. Yeah, but in in November of 1975, they're going to they get a report that's right in their very own backyard. It's going to change everything. Oh my God, I I know that we've said this before, but like, I have a feeling I'm going to be scared tonight. This.

Like it like it's so like, if you don't believe it after this, then there's something wrong with you. Right. Yeah, this is the. Real deal. Like he's the real deal, this whole story. Is real. I'm not even lying. It's real.

4:34 Strap up, strap in, here we go. OK Snowflake AZ. Oh, my God. I know, Snowflake. OK, Do you? Yeah, I do. OK, small town. It's a very. It's a. Tiny, Yeah. Little town, Yeah. It's got maybe 6000 people. It's about 30 miles away from the Apache National Forest. And on November 5th of 1975, 7 loggers pack up after a long day of logging up in the mountains. Doing some real manly. Real manly work and they are tired and they want to go home.

5:17 So their names are Mike Rogers, Steve Pierce, Kenny Pearson, Allen Dallas, Dwayne Smith, John Goulet and Travis Walton. And they're all getting in the truck and Mike's the foreman and they're all, you know, friends. I mean, they're loggers. They do this is what they do. They get hired to go do these clearings. Right. It's like huge clearings and it's like it's very blue collar work. Yep. Yep. Very much like. Everyone knows them small town, you know, right? Sure. So they're working up sun up sundown and so starting to get dark and they start there what's ultimately a 45 minute drive back down to Snowflake because they're up in the mountains. Yeah.

6:07 And so keep in mind, like, there's not like some freeway they hop on after work. Like they have to drive down the mountain like these wooded forestry Kirby roads to get to like a main road to then to get home, Right. So they hadn't driven far at all, like maybe 1/4 of a mile. And then they noticed something really weird. They like see this bright light through the trees. Oh my God. Now a few of them after the fact, they say they think it's the moon. They think suddenly the moon is shining through the trees. Sure, like a full moon or something. But then they're like, wait, the moon's fucking over there.

6:47 Oh no. So they're like what is happening? And so they're driving through the the Bindi Rd. and as soon as they come around this one bend, they see it. What? It's this clearing. It's a small clearing on the side and there's this big thing hovering above the ground that they've never seen before. Yeah, it's not a moon.

7:28 It's clearly not a moon. And they describe it as kind of glowing from the inside. It's kind of how they described it. It was just kind of like radiating this light. And it was kind of hard to describe, but they knew it was. It was like a shape of a saucer. It was like a this UFO like, well, you would think of a UFO. And before Mike could actually even fully stop the truck, Travis Walton, he opens the door and is like walking out of the truck. He's like, in some like, weird trance. Oh, he's dead. Yeah. He's like, he's like.

8:10 He can't. He. Oh, so he's like, he's like a moth. Like, yes, like a moth flame. Yeah, exactly. So he's like, like, just like transfixed on this line. Exactly, exactly, exactly. And so he's kind of walking over there, you know, pretty quick. And then he stops for a second and then soon as he stops, like the ship starts making an audible noise like this rumble. And Mike said he could actually feel the steering wheel vibrate. Of the ship. He could feel of steering wheel of his truck vibrating from the sound of this ship that the ship was making.

8:51 Oh my gosh. That's kind of how loud it was. And they described this blue kind of green light. It starts to emit from the shape of the ship. And it was so bright that Mike said he real he could see the hood of his truck glowing. That's how bright this this was. Oh. My God. Suddenly, this light, it shoots out of the ship. It hits Travis Walton in the chest. Oh no, 'cause he was the idiot who got out. Shoots him back like 10 or 15 feet. And Mike said that it was so forceful that he actually saw Travis like bounce off the ground.

9:32 Like when he hit it bounced him off the ground. He could see him bounce. That's some force. Well, the mic is like unconscious, so sorry, Travis is unconscious. So Mike's freaking out. All the guys are freaking out. So Travis like steps on the gas and like out of here 'cause they're like, well, Travis is dead. I mean, just fucking killed Travis. Let's be honest, 1 blue collar collar workers, they don't fuck around. They don't fuck around with shit right? Like they do not, it's not like, oh, maybe this is like, you know, some kind of like, you know, let's just check it out. Yeah, let's like go and check it. No, you do not check it out. You just like, move on.

10:13 You don't question you can you move on. But he goes towards that. They see their friend bounce off the fucking ground from the force and then one dude opens up the fucking car door. I don't know. I I want to believe I'm a good friend. I want to believe I'm a good person. Well, and they're screaming at him too. Like to. Stop in the car, yeah, but it's like nothing stopping. Him. He is. He's like a moth to flame. He cannot stop. And you would, you would go like, oh, would I go help him? But like you saw him got shoot by a laser bounce off the ground. You're like fuck, am I next? I, I think I would be in such shock that yeah, there's no way I wouldn't.

10:55 I would not. Well, he, he stepped on the gas speed out of there, drives about 1/4 of a mile and then he goes, what am I doing? And he stops, slams on the brake and he goes. We got to go back and the guys. Oh, so they left him? They left him? Left him, Yeah. And the guys are like, what are you doing? Go, go, go. Keep on going, we don't want to get stuck. Exactly. They're like, they could be after us and they get out of the car and they're all arguing and fighting and he's like, no, we got to go back. We got to go back. We got to go back. They've all seen scary movies and they know. Well, 1975 was a big year for sightings of UFOs in Arizona.

11:39 Fuck Arizona. It was like a a thing. Was it like, I'm sure, I'm sure. Arizona's weird. I grew up there. It's it's weird, it's weird and and like it's weird, not the coolest ways, right, But like sit down at school anyways, off the topic, right. So they're all. So they're all freaked right out. They're like, they leave, we gotta go. Yes. Mike finally goes, no, get back in the truck. We gotta go back after Travis. Yeah, they do. God bless him. Right as right as they're starting to get back in the truck, they see this flash of light in the kind of a glow and this streak goes off in the sky and, and the the light's gone. And so then now they're kind of like getting their courage back. And so they get back in the truck, they go back up to the clearing.

12:31 There's nothing there. There's no ship, there's no sign of, there's no Travis. Oh, I was gonna ask. No, they're calling out his name. They're searching all kind of in the area, like going back into the trees. Like did he crawl? No yelling his name. I have some questions. Yes. OK, so here's the thing, we all like a cocktail after work, right? Like all of us don't mind like a a nice ice cold Modelo, whatever your poison is really nice. If you've been outside for a long time. If I've gone on a long hike, 'cause I work at a desk. If we work at like if you're working outside, a nice cold beer is great.

13:17 Like did they like partake in any alcohol beforehand? Not a drop. Did they partake? In the gotcha, not a hit and none of them will do it because of their dangerous job. So they will. They do not do that at work, right? And they were just getting in their car and coming home, so not a chance to do it. Anyway, there's not. They're not under any kind. Of no influence. And they're all in the same car. On the same truck. Exactly. So they go down the there's, so they're going home. They get off the Dirt Rd., They finally get to a main road and they're all in complete fucking shock and they're like, we got to call the cops.

14:00 Yeah. I mean, our friend has just been abducted. I mean, we can't find our friend. We can't find number one. Like something happened to him. He could be, let's just say like devil's advocate, like he was knocked out unconscious. They went forward, he came to, he started walking around. Yeah, unconscious by what? Right. I mean, yeah, yeah, IA raccoon. Yeah. Yeah, no, unconscious by like really weird circumstances. But like, even if like they could try to write everything off, Yeah, he's still stumbling around. Yeah, We cannot make sense of it. So they get they find a payphone at this convenience store, call the cops and wait. First officer on scene, this guy named Chuck Ellison. What does he do?

14:55 The first thing Alicia just thought of. Are you drunk? Where are the bottles? Do I see any pipes? Yeah. Any little you know stubs? Little Ganj. Uh huh. Little. Any of that shit? Nope, don't see any of that, Don't smell it. He talks to every member of the crew, starting with the foreman Mike, and every single one of them tell them their friend has been abducted by UFO. They're all freaked out. They're all freaked out and they're all telling him the same story. So he's like, OK, I think I need to call my boss. So he calls his boss, Martin Gillespie, and he comes down, tell him what happened. So he's looking for alcohol, marijuana, drugs. Do I smell it?

15:44 Do I see? It. Yeah, yeah. I mean, that's exactly what I had was wondering about. Yeah. What? You said he knows they're scared. He can see they're scared, but he doesn't know why. Like, did we do something accidentally? Did someone accidentally kill him? Did they intentionally kill him? Can we also, Yeah, something weird's going on. And like any kind of like police officer in a small town, like Snowflake. Snowflake is still small. Like it's not, it's not a but like they might have an inn and like a cafe. Like there's it's tiny, it's tiny. So this guys probably used to like traffic violations and the domestic violence.

16:29 Abductions and kidnappings and murder. Yeah, definitely not. Kidnapings and murder like this is definitely not his Forte. So like, right, Holy shit, I'm in the shit. I need to like, call the big guns. That's right. And so he goes, OK, three of you are going to take us back to the scene. The rest of you are going to go home and we are going to have we're going to continue this in the morning. OK. So so the Mike Allen and Kenny take the sheriff and the deputy back to the site. No sign of the craft, no sign of Travis, nothing. It of course, they don't have lights, they don't have resources.

17:14 Not if they can do some like big city search. So they're like, OK, fine, we're going to take two in the morning. So snowflakes I guess. Pretty religious and so. Yeah, it is. It is. There's a lot of Mormons. There's a lot of Yeah. So the news of course spreads very fast, as would any small town. And, of course, nobody in the town is believing a word of it. So they know these guys and they're like, yeah. They're like, what's what? What really happened?

17:54 Really. Yeah, no one's believing them. Because it's so absurd. That's the problem. Exactly, exactly. And like I said, there's a lot of UFOs happening in Arizona at the time. 197575 Yeah. And so part of me goes, well, wouldn't you guys put like some credibility, like something's happening, like, or would you go, are you just chalking up something fucked up happened to the UF OS? You know what I mean? Like it's hard to say what people's minds are saying. Well, when you're in a small town like you, the last thing you want to do is be like known as the town weirdo. I mean, I would be fine with that, but a lot of people would not be right. Like you don't want to stick out. Everyone knows your business.

18:38 So like, you know, be like, Oh my God. Yeah, Actually. Well. These were businessmen. They, their livelihoods depended on their reputation and depend on a lot of things. So you know. Yeah, they're honest people just trying to make a living. Like, it's not like logging's a pretty hard. Job yeah, so they had helicopters, they're bringing dogs. Like there was a couple 100 people like doing walks like no sign of Travis. So there's certain foul play shenanigans. Yeah, dudes killed him over some kind of. Stupid argument. Yeah, by. I would think that. Something, something, whether it's accident or not, like they're covering up like somebody fucked up Travis and like something's getting covered up.

19:25 And someone's not speaking the truth. Yeah, the cops split him up into like, split him apart, right? And they, they take them up into the scene and take them apart and they're like searching, right. The cops, some cops are taking them this way, this way, this way. And all of them are doing the same thing, like, OK, just tell us where the body is, dude, right, Just tells where it is. Like it'll be better for you. It's. Cool. We gotta yeah. And so now the guys are like, OK, definitely. No one believes us like we are. We're alone, right? Yeah. And so at one point, someone, one of someone brings a Geiger. A Geiger. Counter.

20:06 Can you remind me what a geyer counter is? It measures radiation. Oh, yes, yeah. So it's like one of those, like it looks like a metronome or something, or like a little, yeah, it's a little thing. And like it'll move. Yes, the little needle. The needle. Moves as as it. Attacks radiation, yes. So they bring it up there and Travis's, yes, Travis's brother Don is up there helping, right? He's with the guy that has the Geiger counter. He sees the Geiger counter Max out at the spot and then sees it drop like 100 yards out of the area, sees it go away.

20:56 But here's the problem. What? Oh my God. Don today is the only person alive that saw the Geiger counter do that. Go off. Yeah. So who's the only eyewitness? Alive, yes. Exactly. I mean. Currently, yeah. Currently, yes. So now we're on Day 2 news spreading globally. You're right, right. This guy's missing. We haven't been able to find him. They're all saying like, like straight up saying abducted. He's abducted by aliens. Not just like, we don't know, like he could have like, shark or something.

21:36 Like no aliens, full on aliens. And that is some sexy shit. Yeah. I mean. Hell yeah. So every media around the globe is coming to Snowflake. Well, of course snowflakes. Like teeny tiny. Yeah. And so now the men notice how these government officials like following them like, you know, full on men in black. Yeah, like you can tell. Yeah, yeah, they, they look a little weird. They're out of place, I don't know, wearing like suits and shit. Yeah. Exactly. So now we're on day three. Oh good God. They know nothing more than they know on day one the sheriff's investigating this case as a homicide. And now they're dead set. They have a suspect and they're they're like, we know who it is. Oh.

22:22 And they think it's Allen Dallas because they found. Yeah. And they found out that he had a fight with Travis the day before sometime recently. Dude has a motive. And so now they're putting all this pressure on all the other guys because they're convinced it's Allen, OK, or maybe John, OK, we think it's an Allen or. Ton, I don't know it's. One of those. It's one of those. OK, it's one of those. One of those guys, we have a little bit of pressure you. Know so they ask all the guys to take a polygraph and they jump at the chance. And Mike in fact is quoted by saying give me sodium pentathol, give me hypnosis, give me a polygraph, give me whatever you want to do.

23:04 I will do it because I'm telling you what we are telling you is the truth. Yeah, I have nothing to hide. The sodium pentathol or whatever, that's like supposed to be like a truth elixir, right? So, I mean, dudes like throw it all, throw it all at me. I don't. I'm not afraid. Because I saw what I saw. I saw what I saw. Yeah, so now we're on day 55 and the men are summoned to take the polygraph test. Yeah, and the polygrapher. Polygrapher Poly. The guy that gives the test, yes. Asked the five guys all the same questions, of course, and he does it three times.

23:49 He asked all of them the same questions three times, right? And the first four questions were always the same and they were about Travis. And those questions were, did you cause Travis Walton any sort of physical injury last Wednesday afternoon? Yep. Do you know if Travis Walton was injured by some other member of your crew last Wednesday? Do you know if Travis Walton's body was buried or hidden somewhere? And did did you tell the truth about actually seeing a UFO last Wednesday when Travis disappeared? All yes or no questions, which they have to do in polygraph tests, yeah. The interviewer later said that as he got further in these interviews, he was convinced that the UFO was real. No.

24:43 So he's interviewing all these guys. It's not just like two guys. It's like. It's 7. Yeah, yeah. Six now. Yeah, 'cause one of them left. Yeah, was objective. Yeah, six. Five of the six passed the lie detector. Only Allen Dallas comes back as inconclusive. They said he actually passed the first two runs of the test and it was reported he didn't pass the third one only because he was getting irritated by the whole thing and he pulled himself off the test. That's what they say. OK, I can't. Well I mean let's be honest, dude was like being grilled for. And he? Five days. And Dallas was, remember the one that had the tude with Travis anyway, right?

25:26 Had a bit of an attitude. He was one of those. Guys, he's just like hot headed, hot headed. He's a hot headed guy. And then also they're probably putting more pressure on him to like, yes, confess to something. Exactly. And. It's like fuck. That dude's like I'm, I'm over it. I'm telling you the fucking truth. Yeah. So the examiner files his report and said the men were being truthful when they answered the questions and it proves that they saw some object that they believed to be a UFO and the Travis was not injured or murdered by them. Wow, that was his report. Conclusive. Conclusive. Now the sheriff's department's back to square one. Like, OK, well if they didn't murder him, where is he? And there's always that question of can you use lie detector detector test like there's a lot of. Yes, because you could fake it.

26:22 Fake it. People get very nervous, it messes things up, blah blah blah. But like. Exactly. You know you're it doesn't matter like I. Think when you when you test enough people you know, you can tell when people are lying or not. Yeah, he knew. He knew. Yeah. So Travis's brother-in-law, Grant, which is his sister's husband, gets this call later that night. And it's this voice that says, this is Travis, come get me. What? And he thinks it's a prank. Yeah. I would I would think the. Same thing, he's getting ready to hang up and the guy goes don't don't don't, don't hang up, it's me, it's me. And he describes as best he can where he is and convinces him to come look for him.

27:13 So he grabs Travis's wife, his mother, and his brother. And he drives to where this guy, this voice says he is. And sure enough, there's Travis. Oh my God, passed out in a phone booth. Oh, he had called them and then just passed out and passed out so. Now this is five days later. Yeah, five days. They thought he was dead. Thought he was dead. They thought they were looking at a fucking murder victim or like a a murder. Like where is he? He's definitely dead. He calls up and is like no no, no trust. Me. Yeah, I'm here. So they take him home and in the interview with Travis, he said that he found himself lying in a road and he sees this kind of blue light above him and then it shoots off into space. And now he's alone on in the street and he gets up, he's stumbling.

28:14 He's kind of confused. He's walks for what he says he thinks is ours. And he's seen, he sees the horizon and he can see, he can tell the lot what the lights are. And he he knows that these particular lights are, it was some town. I can't remember the name of the town, but he could. He could tell where he was. Yeah, he knew the the skylight, the. Skylight. Yeah. So he knew where to go. Yeah. And so Herbert, Arizona, that's what he. Saw Oh Huber. Huber, thank you. Yeah. So he finds his payphone. He calls his family. That's when that happened. He's on his way home. And he said what he really struggled with is that they told him that was five days later and he thought it was the exact same night. Oh my God, it's that time lost thing. Exactly.

29:16 I'm with him. That would fuck you up. Like where have I been for five days? OK. Can we just like pause this? Have you ever been put put under like for a surgery or something? No. Me neither. So I've never had that kind of moment where you fall asleep and you wake up and it's like hours have passed unless you're sleeping, right? Like if I'm sleeping, I'm sleeping hard. I'm like, wow, I slept really hard tonight or whatever. It's not like falling asleep for a procedure, waking up, the procedure is gone and you've kind of lost time. I've never experienced time loss. I haven't either.

29:56 Yeah, I think just like from the perspective of like having a surgery that would fuck my head up and that's like something that's. Rational. It fucked him up. But he's been gone for five days and he's like, no, no, no. No, I was just just, it was like a a couple hours. Ago. Yeah, yeah. Oh my God that would fuck with my head. So he's desperate for help, and Travis and his brother reach out to the APRO. APRO. Yeah, yes.

30:37 It's a guy, a man and a wife, Jim and Carol, they started this company or this business and they're, they're very credible. Like they have a lot of scientific, unbiased perspective. Like they're very, they're not like UFO freaks. They're just, they're trying to be very scientific about the whole thing, right? They don't have Silver Skulls. Right. They have doctors and scientists like, yeah, they, yeah. I mean, they're. Trying to be. Very trying to be. Scientific. Yeah. So in the dead of the night, Dawn Travis Brothers sneaks him out of Snowflake and takes him to APRO so some doctors can examine him.

31:20 Because remember, this is a science. I mean, this is a media circus. Right, right. Yeah. So before the exam begins they he tells the doctors what he remembers and he remembers exiting the truck. He said it was just an impulse and assumed it was going to take off before he got very far but just felt like he needed to get out of the truck. And he remembers hearing the low rumbling sound and then the high pitched sounds, and then the closer he got the louder the ship was, and then it started to remove or move. And he remembers he's about ready to run when he sees that blue light that hit his body. Oh, so he remembered.

32:08 It remember that and then he wakes up under that same light five days later. That's why he thinks it's all the. Same day. Together. Yeah. Oh fuck. And so now they got to figure out, well, what happened in those five days. Right. And so he agrees to go under what was a very controversial procedure then called regressive hypnosis. Still controversial? Betty and Barney Hill. Yeah. Same thing. Yeah. And the idea behind like the regression, you know, hypnosis is like you. You have like a therapist who's like, guiding you through a hypnosis where you're supposed to be what, like getting things from like.

32:58 Getting past this whole physical mental block and really getting into those deep recesses of your mind. Yes, yeah, like the past, the conscious like levels. Now the issues with that and we talked before with Betty and Barney Hill is can thoughts be implanted? Can can things be implanted by the therapist or who's walking you through this? Are these your actual? Can they influence? Yes. Yes. Yeah, which is a huge problem. OK, So it's interesting. So he went under hypnosis did. I mean, so they did physical test, they did blood, urine, all this stuff, nothing abnormal, no traces of drugs.

33:46 And so while this is happening, something else is happening. So it turns out Travis's family didn't bother to tell law enforcement that Travis was alive. What? What girl? Oh, that. Oh, you want to know if he was alive? Well, you didn't say that. I mean, you didn't ask. Well, so the family thinks he's too unemotionably unstable to handle this, which I get. They're trying to protect him. Yes, yeah.

34:27 I say get it. I get it. I could totally get it. You any, any of us would do that. But here. There's some. Lots of people doing stuff thinking he's down. I don't know, call me crazy, but like they're, they're also like there's a murder investigation going. On yeah, there's some stuff. Happening. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You can't really, like, hide from this, yeah? So the only way that they found out that Travis this is like post alive. OK. Was this because when Travis called made that phone call, he had to call Collect? Of course, he had no change.

35:11 Right, right. No. Well, the. Operator was like, hey, I know that name and that voice, I'm going to listen in. And so she listened in and she's like, Oh my God, that's Travis. And so then she called the cops like I heard Travis on telephone calling collect his family. I just wanted to let you all know that he he might be be actually not no longer under the influence of or dead. So, by the way, my name is Verna and I'm here all night. If there's anything else going on you want me to figure out, I'll be happy to. Cheryl. Yeah.

35:52 So the first few days on his return, his brother Dwayne acts as the family spokesman, right? And he the news is all over the world and they're all scrambling to talk to Travis, but he's hiding out in Phoenix Hotel trying to get help from APRO. Right, right. Like. Like he lost five days. Yeah, Daddy needs some help. For sure. OK. So now is November 14th. Four days after he got back, he's meeting with a guy named Doctor James. Harder for that regression hypnosis. His wife Dana, who by the way, is Mike's sister.

36:32 Oh, OK. OK, that's why they're buddies. Yeah, it's like BFF, right? And his brother Dwayne are with him. Travis describes the events like this. Oh good God, great. Oh my God. This is this.
